This page is for anyone considering a digital nomad retreat in Romania. Instead of pushing an expired one-month promo, it gives you the practical overview: what the Sinaia retreat is like, who it suits, how to get there, where to stay, and how to plan a longer Romania work trip around it.

A Workation Retreat in Lloret de Mar, Spain – My Honest Review
After joining The Better Neighbors retreat in Sinaia, Romania, which I loved, I was curious to see how a coastal version would compare. The answer? A completely different vibe, but just as memorable. And the reason it was memorable had much less to do with the destination… and everything to do with the people.
Here’s my honest review based on my two-week stay: what I loved, what surprised me, and what you should know before signing up.

Slow Travel for Single Women Over 50 and Semi-Retirees
There is a moment in midlife travel when the pace shifts and you stop trying to see everything. You start to experience what it feels like to belong somewhere — even if only temporarily.
For me, that shift became real through my time with the Better Neighbors digital nomad community in Romania and later in Lloret de Mar, Spain. What began as a practical way to travel longer and more affordably turned into something far more powerful:
*I built friendships from around the world
*Daily movement and healthy routines
*A sense of home in unfamiliar places
*The discovery of hidden local gems most travelers never see
This is the magic of slow travel after 50, and it’s one of the most transformative ways to explore the world as a solo woman in this stage of life.

Slow Travel in Romania After 50: Finding My Roots in the Carpathian Mountains
Mountains instead of the sea. Castles instead of coastal paths. Thermal spas instead of beach cafés. Slow travel in Romania offered me something I didn’t even know I was searching for with a deeper connection to place, to people, and to my own family story.
As a solo traveler over 50 and the author of Traveling Solo for Women Over 50, I’ve learned that the most meaningful journeys aren’t about checking landmarks off a list. They’re about staying long enough to belong.

Daaamn, where to begin, it was absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend it enough. The place where it was happening was gorgeous and there were many possible activities in the area, while it didn't feel busy busy, the hotel itself was pretty good with super common spaces for working & partying.
And the best: People (and obviously the dinos!), everyone was cool and the mix of artists and remote workers felt great. We had so many fun activities and cooked together countless times — it really made the stay special.
Thank you very much for super amazing October and until next time!

It was the first time for me to take part in a retreat like this and it has been very illuminating and reinforcing. I have learned a lot about myself, just how important it is to be open to new experiences and people. I have learned a lot about the participants as well about their work and aspirations and I really found their company inspiring and comfortable. I could only speak about this retreat in superlatives regarding the organisation of the programs, the attention paid on our general well being and the cool atmosphere of the whole month.

Overall, I had a great experience!
Ale did a wonderful job all around in making this happen. The mix of artists and digital nomads created a truly special environment, and I feel I learned a lot about both art and the artists through this experience.
Two added perks were the Spanish classes with Nadia and the rooftop yoga sessions with Jackie. I’ve taken Spanish classes in the past, and I can honestly say that Nadia is the best teacher I’ve ever had. She focused on pronunciation, which I believe is essential, and she adapted beautifully to each participant’s skill level.

I think it was a wonderful experience. I had the opportunity to meet different people and cultures and the workshops were very interesting
From the yoga lessons to the painting classes, everyone managed to leave me with something, just like the places and experiences we shared together.

Joining TBN for two weeks in Lloret de Mar was a great chance to experience Costa Brava and meet some other travellers along the way. I found the accommodations quite good and loved how close the hotel was to the beach. The coworking area was very busy and there were lots of activities to attend, which I really enjoyed. I really loved the Spanish lessons and Nadia the Spanish teacher was really excellent and able to adjust her material even for absolute beginners like me. I would recommend TBN to anyone who is looking to travel with a community of like-minded people from around the world.

Ilina | Romania
I truly enjoyed the sightseeing in Lloret de Mar and the calm, uncrowded streets. I’m grateful for the new connections, ideas, and meaningful interactions I had the chance to experience throughout my stay. I also deeply appreciated the opportunity to rest after a hard-working year—the room was exactly what I needed.

Really enjoyed this retreat!
Being close to the water, and connecting with fellow nomads and artists. The weather was great, decent food around. Great little market next door was very convenient. Yoga on the rooftop was the bomb!

The Better Neighbors retreat was amazing!
I met so many interesting people, made new friends, and enjoyed great conversations and activities. It’s the perfect programme to work remotely, network, travel, unleash your creativity, and have lots of fun—all in one place.
A big thank you to the organisers and staff for their dedication to ensuring everyone had a great experience, and for planning activities almost every day of the week. The diversity of people, ideas, and events truly made it a winning formula.
After living together for a month, I feel we created a special bond with all the participants. It genuinely feels like we’ve become one big family.

Fabienne | Germany
I spent last June with the better neighbors in Sinaia, Romania, and it turned out to be one of the most uplifting experiences of my year. The group was warm and open, the perfect size to really connect, and everyone shared something personal through workshops, talks, or fun activities. It created a feeling of togetherness that I didn’t expect but deeply appreciated. Sinaia itself was the ideal setting, a peaceful mountain town surrounded by nature where it’s easy to relax, breathe, and slow down. Having free access to the amenities of a four-star hotel, from the indoor pool to the sauna and gym, added this gentle touch of comfort that made the days feel even more special. What truly made the experience stand out was how kind and supportive the team was. You could turn to them with anything and they always met you with genuine warmth. In the end, the retreat gave me so much more than I imagined, not only in terms of value but in inspiration, connection, and emotional recharge. I left with a full heart and would recommend the experience to anyone who needs a mix of community, calm, and nature.

I had a very pleasant experience. I really enjoyed the fun and relaxing activities, such as yoga, urban hikes, sound healing, and body balance workshops. I also loved the trips they organized—visiting the bear sanctuary to learn about bear abuse and exploring the castles were definite highlights.

Daniel Duma | Romania & Spain
I had an incredible time in a stunningly beautiful place. The experience was incredibly grounding, very relaxing yet surprisingly productive! The highlight was definitely feeling part of a wonderful community. The nature activities were amazing, but sharing them with such warm people made them unforgettable. It was the ideal blend of productivity and enjoying the outdoors.

It was an amazing experience where the group of people was great. We had a wonderful time exploring Sinaia, attending the workshops, building a small community and enjoying everyone’s company. Especially the artists and their inclusion is a very enriching experience and worth your while. The people from Better Neighbors and Hotel Sinaia were very helpful when we had some trouble, for example: we needed to receive some packages and had no problems at all. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone who is willing.

The experience was very positive, I appreciated all the workshops, the yoga sessions, and especially the art ones. Everything was organized very smoothly, and I can say I was both very productive during the hours I had to work and also very entertained during my free time. The gym and spa were very appreciated, as also the restaurants where we had the discount. The group of people was very friendly and I believe everyone had a nice experience as I had. I would definitely go back for this retreat or a similar one!

I’m so happy and grateful to find out about The Better Neighbors. It was a retreat like no other. The sense of community, possibilities to grow and learn about other participants lifestyles and different ways to be a digital nomad, all the art workshops, daily yoga classes, access to the spa and gym. Very inspiring time. Also big shoot out to Alejandra, to put this all together and make sure everything is planned till the last detail.

This was my first time joining the retreat, and it was such an incredible experience! Everyone is busy with work during the day, but doing the evening activities together made bonding so much more enjoyable. It felt like we became a big family in just a short amount of time. Plus, the accommodation was amazing, and being able to use the spa to relax was a huge bonus. A truly wonderful experience!

Sinaia is beautiful! All the venues and partners there are so nice and you don't lack anything during your stay there. The artists residencies are also so cool, because you get to meet local and international artists. That's such a great idea and unique concept! I enjoyed the almost daily yoga classes and trying new things in the workshops :)

I am so grateful to have been a part of this experience. I think the retreat was very well organised and planned, making everyone feel included and at ease. I loved that it was diverse, with a lot of options for activities, but also free time and room to propose other ideas on the go. The Timeraiser event was a great surprise and such a wonderful idea - it was the first time I heard of something like this and I congratulate you for the project - it's so important to also give back to the community in any way we can. I loved the location, Sinaia, a really nice small town, in the middle of nature, but also close to the capital city and ways of transportation. I loved all the activities and I think I've been to all of them, because I wanted to try them out and experience as much as possible. I also appreciated so much having the accommodation and food taken care of as member of the team (yoga instructor). The other facilities were a really good idea too: the spa and the gym, even though I haven't really used them as much, because I wanted to spend more time in nature, but I could see how important this was for other people present there. Alejandra was such a reliable person throughout all this experience, always there, on top of the organization side, but also the social part, trying to always include everyone. For me, the most important was the feeling I left with: rejuvenation and a reawakening of my creativity. Thank you so much!

I absolutely loved my experience with The Better Neighbors.
The location was beautiful, and everything was thoughtfully designed. The accommodation was peaceful, the spa was fantastic, and the coworking space was one of the best I’ve worked from—comfortable, inspiring, with a piano and a fully equipped kitchen. I also loved that there were partner cafés and restaurants with discounts, so you could easily work from different places whenever you wanted.
The program was excellent. There was always something interesting to join—workshops, activities, opportunities to meet people, learn something new, or simply recharge. At the same time, there was never any pressure to participate, so it was easy to stay focused on work whenever needed.
The people were amazing. It’s clear that the screening process works really well because everyone was open, interesting, and welcoming. I felt at home from the very first day, without that usual awkward adjustment period.
For me, this is the best way to explore a new country. Instead of being a tourist for a few days, you actually get to live there for several weeks, working, building connections, and experiencing everyday life. It gives you a much deeper understanding of the place than simply visiting attractions.
I’m really happy that communities like this exist. I would gladly recommend The Better Neighbors to any digital nomad, and I’m already looking forward to joining another retreat. I only hope there will be even more destinations in the future!
